How it works

Each food's per-100 g values are scaled by the grams you enter (value ร— grams รท 100), then added together. The macro split converts protein and carbs at 4 kcal per gram and fat at 9 kcal per gram, then shows each share of the total macro calories.

Worked example

A plate of Chicken Breast 150 g + Brown Rice 195 g + Broccoli 156 g gives: calories 248 + 218 + 53 = 519 kcal; protein 46.5 + 5.1 + 4.4 = 56.0 g; carbs 0 + 46.8 + 10.3 = 57.1 g; fat 5.4 + 1.8 + 0.6 = 7.8 g. Check the arithmetic: chicken breast 165 ร— 1.5 = 247.5, rounded to 248 kcal; brown rice 112 ร— 1.95 = 218.4, rounded to 218 kcal; broccoli 34 ร— 1.56 = 53.04, rounded to 53 kcal.

Frequently asked questions

Do I enter cooked or raw weight?

Use the weight that matches the database entry โ€” most entries here are as served or cooked, as labelled on the food page.

Why are totals rounded?

Calories are rounded to whole kcal; macros to one decimal place. Small rounding differences are normal.

Is my meal saved anywhere?

No โ€” everything stays in your browser and disappears when you leave the page.

Can I add the same food twice?

Yes โ€” add it again with a different quantity and both rows count toward the total.
